Design Risk Factor
‘Design Risk Factor’ is a project for understanding the junction between private equity and design practice. The work focuses on design as a metric to inform the acquisition process known as a leveraged buyout (LBO). The Design Risk Factor (DRF) framework demonstrates the reduction and translation of design into key variables to understand a company’s positioning, value and potential within design. The frameworks enable the quantification of something that is inherently qualitative. By breaking down design into sub-categories that can be surveyed and ultimately quantified, this project enables the analysis of potential and improvement. Through an interactive model, users are invited to observe the impact design has on an LBO in real time, to take home with them, and reflect on their investment thesis.
